In November 2016 The Cairns Institute formalised a strategic alliance via a 3 year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with The Streets Movement, a not for profit community development organisation which provides programs, pathways and opportunities for the disconnected, forgotten and wayward, helping them to re-engage with family, education and community.
The Institute and The Streets Movement will work together in support of their shared vision of stronger communities and a brighter future for all. Objectives of the alliance include:
- undertaking collaborative research in support of community development and other programs run by The Streets Movement
- exploring further opportunities for collaboration between JCU and The Streets Movement including the delivery of pathway programs
- promoting awareness of community needs and of innovative approaches to community development among government, business, education and other stakeholders.
