A recent trip to the Daintree Rainforest Observatory (DRO) in Eastern Kuku Yalanji country saw The Cairns Institute's Director Professor Stewart Lockie participated in a meeting to workshop Jabalbina’s Green Economy Plan.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation which is the Registered Native Title Body Holder (RNTBC), Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC), Land Trust and Cultural Heritage Body for he Eastern Kuku Yalanji People. The MOU signals the intention for both parties to work together in support of their shared vision of stronger communities and a brighter future for all. Professor Lockie mentioned that there would be an increased use of the DRO, raising the cultural literacy of researchers and students active on Eastern Kuku Yalanji country and focusing research on matters of importance to Eastern Kuku Yalanji.
"Signing an MOU is more than just an agreement; it's about building a collaborative community, fostering a shared sense of purpose where all parties feel connected, valued, and committed to mutual success."
