About the journal
eTropic was founded in 2002 in response to a developing innovative research interest in the tropics among scholars in the arts, social sciences and humanities at James Cook University. Following the establishment of eTropic, a research focus on “People, Identity and Place” was formulated at the university linking scholars in Anthropology, Archaeology, Economics, Education, English, History, Indigenous and Torres Strait Island Studies, Literary Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Tourism Studies. The journal eTropic provides a multi-disciplinary venue for the dissemination of new research on the variety and interrelatedness of nature, culture, and society in tropical regions. This research is also the focus of The Cairns Institute at James Cook University, Cairns, which brings together local, national and international scholars in the field.
eTropic reflects world-wide scholarly developments in the dynamic area of tropical studies. It is a fully refereed journal, under the editorship of Associate Professor Anita Lundberg and an experienced Board of Editors and distinguished International Advisory Board, including the Founding Editor, Adjunct Professor Stephen Torre.
