Led by Professor Allan Dale, the Cairns South Collective Impact Project, continues to connect and collaborate to improve outcomes for children in Cairns South. In July we held a forum including a presentation by a representative of the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women. The forum provided a platform for service providers and community groups to have a better understanding and to ask questions concerning Child Safety legislative roles and responsibilities and also changes to legislation since the Carmody report. The forum also discussed the outcomes of a report produced by the Collective Impact team, following in-depth conversations and data gathering, as part of the Cairns South Needs Risk Project. The Need/Risk Project aims at building a ‘village’ to support families raising younger children. A summary of the report can be found HERE. During the COVID-19 restrictions the project team facilitated regular digital meetings so that service providers, government departments and community groups could discuss changes to service delivery and look for solutions to address gaps.
